Construction is expected to be completed around May 1 on a new 21,000-SF Montgomery’s IGA supermarket in Pea Ridge. Work on the $1 million project began last November, says Dave Montgomery, who owns the business. The building is owned by Tom James, a Little Rock developer.

Montgomery has operated a 13,500-SF IGA store at the site for almost 16 years. The new store is being constructed just to the north of the existing building, which will be leased to another tenant.

Montgomery says the new store will have a bakery and deli department that will feature a dining area with six tables and booths.

With the new store, Montgomery is tripling the size of his frozen-foods section, doubling the size of his meat department and increasing the produce section by about 50 percent.
