NationsBank Gone; Bank of America Arrives
It’s official. NationsBank is now no more, at least not in Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and Oklahoma. On Aug. 2, the name became Bank of America for all that company’s banks in the Midwest.
Spokeswoman Kelly Polonus says the change won’t be completed nationwide until the end of 2000. The merger of NationsBank and BankAmerica created not only the nation’s largest bank but a grand opportunity in the sign business. The name change is the largest ever for a brand in corporate America, Polonus says, and involves changing 45,000 signs.
