Singing in the shower, people can imagine themselves on a stage facing the bright lights of fame. Marie Stewart uses her karaoke machine to make people feel that same excitement.
Attending church lock-ins, wedding receptions and school functions, Stewart takes her equipment and supplies family entertainment. Recently, Stewart took the machine to a high school prom, and she says the kids – as well as the school board – were pleased.
“We don’t get rowdy,” Stewart says. “This is an opportunity for other people to enjoy themselves.”
“I enjoy music, and you would be surprised at how many people have a really good voice,” Stewart says.
Stewart and her husband help each other with the karaoke business aside from their other jobs.
Four speakers, two monitors and a collection of cassettes and compact discs allow people to sing along with popular hits, gospel songs or nursery rhymes.
Safe entertainment for all ages is Stewart’s goal, and she says she enjoys helping people have a good time.
