Johnson Happy About Willow Creek

The ground breaking for the region’s newest hospital, Willow Creek Women’s Hospital, was held July 12 at Johnson. A joint project whose partners include physicians from Parkhill Clinic for Women of Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas OB-GYN of Springdale, the hospital is expected to open next fall.

It’ll mean about 125 new jobs for Johnson and an estimated $3.5 million annually in new tax payments.

Mayor Richard Long attended the ground breaking and called the development “the most exciting thing that’s happened to the city of Johnson since it was incorporated in 1961.”

In comments before the ground breaking, physicians from the Springdale office remembered their former partner, Dr. Bruce Brown, who died in a plane crash earlier this year. Brown and Dr. Scott Bailey, who practices at Parkhill, were the early instigators in the quest to build a physicians’ hospital.

Also at the ground breaking, the physicians from Parkhill announced the addition of a new staff member. Dr. Gina Hudec is expected to join the clinic in September.
