Gene Pharr of Lincoln has purchased a 67-acre farm on Cane Hill Road in Lincoln where he plans to produce chickens for George’s Inc. Pharr received a $700,000 mortgage March 4 from Farm Credit Services that he is using to build five state-of-the-art chicken houses.
The houses use tunnel ventilation and evaporative cooling. They will give Pharr, who is director of live haul and feed mills for Simmons Foods Inc. of Siloam Springs, the ability to place 125,000 broiler birds for growing.
