Don’t Press Us

This year, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is excluding members of the press from the question-and-answer session the company holds after its annual shareholders meeting.

That means the press will be able to cover the mammoth pep rally of a shareholders meeting in the University of Arkansas’ Bud Walton Arena on June 4, but the Q-and-A session, where newsworthy issues are discussed, is off-limits.

“The session is intended to be a private meeting between shareholders and Wal-Mart executives,” Jessica Moser, a Wal-Mart spokeswoman, wrote in a letter to reporters.

Don’t count on any blockbuster news stories about Wal-Mart will coming out the day after this shareholders meeting.
