Doctor Realizes Dream with Chapel

Dr. Brian Abernathy is building a home and a non-denominational chapel on 17.5 acres in Fayetteville’s Holiday Hills Sub Division. He received a $600,000 mortgage April 6 from McIlroy Bank & Trust for construction on both buildings and the property, which includes a large pond.
The home will be 4,500 SF, and the chapel will be more than 560 SF. Abernathy, a doctor for the University of Arkansas’ football team, says he is fulfilling a dream by building the chapel, which will span a spring-fed ravine and include a waterfall.
The chapel’s design will be rustic, and Abernathy intends to open it to the public. The doctor is doing much of the chapel’s construction work himself.
