Nite Lite Outdoors — a mail-order, wholesale and retail hunting supply business based in Little Rock — plans to open its second retail store Sept. 7 in Springdale.

The company opened its first retail store in Clarksville about four years ago, says Tim Mariani, president of Nite Lite Outdoors. The 5,000-SF Clarksville store was used to test the market. The new Springdale store is about 8,000 SF.

Mariani says his father, Henry Mariani, bought the company about a decade ago. Nite Lite Outdoors began as a supplier to raccoon hunters. The name stems from hardhats developed by the company. The hardhats include spotlights and six-volt batteries to spot raccoons at night.

Mariani says the company supplies hunting equipment to about 1,500 dealers. The Springdale retail store will carry about 60 percent more merchandise than is featured in the company’s seasonal mail-order catalogs. In addition to hunting equipment, Nite Lite Outdoors also carries fly fishing, archery and camping equipment.

Nite Lite Outdoors stocks more than 80 different animal tapes in the “Predator” series of Dennis Kirk Game Calls.

Mariani says the company plans to open a new store every 12 to 18 months.
