LaBarge Inc.’s new Laser Lancet has received broad clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the company announced July 14. LaBarge makes the Laser Lancet, a portable medical laser, for TRANSMEDICA International Inc. of Little Rock. The device may now be used for perforating the skin to draw capillary blood for screening purposes.
Additionally, the company said it has expanded its manufacturing agreement with TRANSMEDICA in an agreement that gives LaBarge exclusive manufacturing rights on products made or sold throughout North America, South America and Europe.
Additionally, the company said it has extended a credit line of up to $2 million to TRANSMEDICA to allow new production of the Laser Lancet. That includes $900,000 currently owed to LaBarge and $1.1 million in new credit. LaBarge, based in St. Louis, has a plant in Huntsville.
