John W. Cole, who is behind construction of Singletree Plaza, a 15,900-SF shopping center on Millsap Road in Fayetteville, says The Toggery is the first store, besides his own Walker Brothers Dry Goods, that has committed to moving into the new development.

The Toggery is a children’s store currently located at 3660 Front St. in Fayetteville. The Toggery will occupy about 2,200 SF in Singletree Plaza, says Kelly Maestri, owner of the business. The Toggery will probably move in July, he says.

“We actually own part of the building as well,” Maestri says of Singletree Plaza.

Cole has operated John W. Cole Apparel for Gentlemen on the downtown Fayetteville square since 1977. Cole plans to close his downtown store in mid-February and move his business to Singletree Plaza then. Cole estimates the new project will cost about $1.4 million. He is currently having a liquidation sale at the downtown store.

Walker Brothers Dry Goods will take up about 3,000-SF of the new center. Cole is still interviewing prospective businesses to occupy the remaining space.
