Noticed anything different on KKEG-FM in the mornings? Missing your morning dose of John Williams?

Well, cheer up. If everything goes as planned, Williams will re-emerge on the airwaves in about a month on a different station, KJEM-FM, 93.3.

Williams will continue his sometimes coarse humor but with a few refinements, says Patricia Boone, promotions director for Gulfstar Radio, which owns KJEM.

“He’ll do more Seinfeld-type comedy,” Boone says, “so a couple of families can listen now and then.”

But, his former employer has a different idea about when and where Williams will continue his morning show. Dave Jackson, operations manager for KKEG, says Williams had a non-compete clause in his contract that prohibits him from broadcasting in Northwest Arkansas for one year.

“We expect him to uphold his end of the bargain,” Jackson says.

Boone says she didn’t know anything about the restriction.

Williams couldn’t be reached for comment. We’re not sure we could repeat it anyway.
