Tangos Upscales, To Open Bar
‘Destina Moga, the owner of Tangos, at 31 E. Center St. in Fayetteville, changed the restaurant’s menu July 8 to upgrade the establishment and reflect the talents of her new chefs, Chris Bingham, 22, of Springfield, Mo., and Jason Turrisi, 22, of Philadelphia.
‘Both chefs previously worked for the Campbell Street Bistro in Fayetteville, which closed last month.
‘With the new menu, Tangos changed from a deli-style eatery to a fine-dining restaurant, says Moga, 27, who is originally from Cleveland. She purchased the eatery a year ago and changed the name from Morning Glorys.
‘In September, Moga says she’ll open a full bar across the hall in the space that currently houses The Source, a women’s clothing store. Moga also owns The Source and the building in which it and Tangos are housed. The restaurant currently serves wine and beer. A smoking lounge will also be provided when the bar opens.
‘The chefs describe the fare at Tangos as “continental fusion cuisine.” In addition to Southern influences, the chefs prepare food with traces of French, Asian and Italian cuisine. Tangos uses fresh local produce whenever possible.
‘Dinner entrees include Brazil nut and vanilla bean crusted mahi mahi, and mesquite-smoked prawns. Appetizers include grilled shrimp and bulgogi (marinated Korean flank steak), and pan-seared crab cake.
‘For lunch, the restaurant features several dishes, including a grilled portabella mushroom burger and jerked pork tenderloin.
‘The restaurant currently seats about 35 inside and 20 at the patio.
