Owner Chris Moody is taking her famous home recipes public with Sweet Dreams Bakery.

“A lot of these are my own recipes,” Moody says. “Some have come from friends and family and a few from cookbooks.”

Sweet Dreams offers a large selection of cakes and pies, a wide range of pastries – but no donuts – and fresh breads. Moody says they take any special orders for cakes and pies for birthdays, weddings and other special occasions.

“We’ve have a very good response considering we’ve only been open for such a short time,” Moody says. “We had 14 specialty orders, wedding and anniversary cakes, the first week.”

“Moody had been baking as a side business for several years while working at Old Town Butcher Shoppe, at that time owned by her partner, Jim Moser.

“Jim had been in the meat business 21 years and was ready for a change. Then, the equipment and space just came available,” Moody says.

On Tuesdays, Sweet Dreams dedicates a lot of its baking time to hard rolls and, on Wednesdays, Jewish ryes.

“It’s amazing the response we get for our hard rolls and rye,” Moody says. “There was a real need in Bentonville for a bakery.”
