The Fayetteville Planning Commission has approved tentative plans for a retail and office center in the city’s CMN Business Park.

John W. Cole, owner of John W. Cole Apparel for Gentlemen on the downtown Fayetteville square, says he’s now looking for tenants and further examining the proposed venture. Cole has a year to come back before the planning commission with final construction plans.

Cole, who has yet to purchase the land, says he’s looking for six tenants for the 15,000-SF building on 1.37 acres at the southwest corner of Millsap Road and Plainview Avenue. One of the tenants would be Cole’s downtown store, which he would move to better accommodate customers who live north of the city. Walker Brothers Dry Goods, a casual men’s clothing store in which Cole would be involved, would probably move into Cole’s spot on the square, he says.

The building was designed by Steve Jordan of Jordan & Associates architects of Fayetteville. May Construction Co. of Little Rock would build the proposed center.

Cole has run the downtown store since 1977.
