Bank of the Ozarks has been named the top performing mid-sized publicly held bank in the nation for 2011 by the ABA Banking Journal in the May 2012 issue of the journal.

The Arkansas-based bank was also ranked as the top performing bank nationally in its size category for 2010 by the ABA Banking Journal in April 2011. A separate ranking from SNL Financial in April 2012 named Bank of the Ozarks as the top performing regional bank in the country.

“Recognition as the top performing bank in the nation is a testament to the strength and stability of our Company and the trust our customers have placed in us. We are grateful and humbled by their confidence,”

said George Gleason, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. “This honor is attributed to our 1,100 employees who conduct business with the highest level of integrity and the desire to not just be good or great, but excellent in everything they do.”

Since going public in 1997, the company has reported record annual earnings in 14 of those 15 years, including the last eleven years in a row. The bank was established in 1903.

ABA Banking Journal, the flagship monthly magazine of the American Bankers Association, ranked the performance of publicly held depository institutions with assets between $1 billion and $10 billion as of December 31, 2011.
