Here’s some real estate news to further fuel your enthusiasm for the ever-evolving landscape around downtown Bentonville.

According to Benton County property records, a Walton family interest has acquired five lots totaling 1.44 acres at the northwest corner of Southwest Fourth and A streets. The site is catty-corner from the new Thrive mixed-use development, and directly across Southwest Fourth from the site that’s being developed by First National Bank of NWA, which is hoping to break ground on a new branch before the end of the year.

The purchase price? $1.57 million.

The acquisition was made in the name of SW A Building LLC, a Delaware-registered company which has the same Bentonville mailing address as that of Walton Enterprises LLC, the holding company owned by the heirs of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. founder Sam Walton.

The Waltons bought the property from Main Street Holdings LLC, which is controlled by Rhonda A. French.
