UAMS Team Granted $2.1M to Address Diabetes in Marshallese Population
Researchers at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Northwest have been promised $2.1 million by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute to address Type 2 diabetes among the Marshallese population.

Northwest Arkansas has a large Marshallese population, and data gathered by a group of interprofessional students showed about half of the local adult Marshallese population have diabetes, McElfish said in the news release.
The Arkansas Coalition of Marshallese and the Gaps in Services to the Marshallese Task Force are working with the research team for the study.
