MedExpress Urgent Care Opens First Arkansas Center

MedExpress Urgent Care, a privately held company headquartered in Morgantown, West Virginia, opened its first Arkansas center to patients on July 9.
The facility at 1160 S. 40th St. in Springdale at the corner of West Sunset Avenue, formerly a Tops Shoes outlet, marks the company’s entry into the market. The company’s second location opened July 16 in Fayetteville at 2890 N. College Ave., and a third development is scheduled to open Aug. 27 in Bentonville at 1995 S.E. Walton Blvd.
Anne Jamieson, a spokeswoman for the company, said Arkansas represents MedExpress’ 11th state and its 133rd, 134th and 135th centers.
“We chose to come to Arkansas after looking at many factors, and Northwest Arkansas seemed to welcome the type of health care we’re known for — fast, friendly, convenient,” Jamieson said.
Both the Springdale and Fayetteville centers are offering free sports physicals through July 31 as a welcoming gift to the community, Jamieson said.
The urgent care organization, founded in 2001, employs physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, medical assistants and an administrative team.
Each center typically opens with about 20 employees. Operating hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
Patients will be provided with walk-in treatment for health-care needs ranging in severity. Several of the health-care services include sports physicals, routine physicals, immunizations, treatment for sprains and broken bones, and X-rays.
Jamieson said Paul LeGue will be the MedExpress area manager for Arkansas.
