Market Moves in Bentonville

Keep an eye on the old abandoned Tyson Foods Inc. plant on Southeast Eighth Street in Bentonville.

The site suddenly has a lot of bulldozers and dump trucks, apparently working to demolish some of the buildings and making the lot nice and clean.

As it was a chicken processing and packaging facility sitting vacant for years, I’m sure the smell is wonderful for the workers making their way through the property.

Tyson sold the 9-acre development for $825,000 last summer to a group of local investors under the name Food Hub NWA LLC.

We’re not sure who they are or what their plans are, but the property now sits in an area recently designated as the Market District, part of a larger redevelopment plan established by the city for the area southeast of the downtown square.

We assume that means the developers’ intent is to use the site for a multitude of functions which could include restaurants, coffeehouses, microbreweries, etc.
