Springdale Store Selling Ozarks-Made Mattresses
Joplimo Mattress, which sells custom mattresses made by hand in the Ozarks, recently opened a store at 4403 S. Thompson St. in Springdale.
The Joplin-based firm owned by Brian Croft also has a Springfield, Mo., store, and will open a second location there next month.
Bryan Wilkerson manages the Springdale store, which had a “soft” opening in early December. He said the number of customers coming to the Joplin store from Northwest Arkansas led to the opening of the Springdale store. The company also plans to open a Rogers location in the next six months to a year, he said.
Croft founded Joplimo — derived from Joplin, Mo. — in 2009, and currently has eight employees companywide.
Wilkerson said the mattresses are handmade for Joplimo by a manufacturer in Springfield using components made by Leggett & Platt of Carthage, Mo. Each mattress is custom-made to the customer’s specifications, and can be “tweaked” to be made softer or firmer at any time after purchase, thanks to a lifetime warranty.
Also, the company donates 10 percent of every purchase to a local charity. Wilkerson said Joplimo currently works with Horses of Hope, a nonprofit that provides equine-assisted therapeutic services in Kansas and Missouri.
The company also donates its used mattresses to Goodwill, Wilkerson said.
