Former NHC Execs Launch New Enterprise

Two former executives with National Home Centers will open a Springdale store called, appropriately enough, Encore Flooring and Building Products within the next couple of weeks, as soon as upgrades to the building it occupies are complete.
Brent Hanby and Joe Frame, along with Joe’s wife, Monica, will sell flooring, doors, windows, lighting, decorative hardware and fireplaces in the new store at 3905 S. Thompson St.
The 18,000-SF building has been vacant for about a year, and previously housed Furniture & Appliances Now.
Ten people have been hired to work at Encore, which will serve both contractors and retail customers.
Hanby was chief financial officer of Springdale-based NHC, a home improvement and building supplier, and spent 26 years with the company. Frame, at NHC for 19 years, was senior vice president of operations.
NHC at one time operated 10 stores in Arkansas, with about 1,200 employees. It filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December 2009, and was purchased by Stock Building Supply in April 2010.
