Associated Press Honors 40/29 as Best Newscast

Northwest Arkansas ABC affiliate KHBS/KHOG-TV, Channels 40/29, has received the Best Newscast Award from the Arkansas Associated Press for the eighth consecutive year.

 “The recognition by the Associated Press validates the effort and proves we’re relevant in our coverage of Fort Smith and Northwest Arkansas news,” 40/29 president and general manager Brian Sather said in a press release.

The Arkansas AP honored 40/29 with four first-place awards including:

• Best Newscast, awarded to 40/29 News and newscast producer Patrick Clark;

• Best Non-Spot News, awarded to reporter Jo Ellison for her report on a crime spree in which criminals used the sewer system to make their escape;

• Best Breaking News Coverage, awarded to the 40/29 news team for outstanding local coverage during the New Year’s Eve tornado that struck the community of Cincinnati in Washington County;

• Best Non-Spot Photography, awarded to chief photographer Brett Rains for a Veteran’s Day video essay.

“We take pride in offering our viewers a trustworthy and balanced source for news,” 40/29 news director Dawn Dugle said in the release. “I am pleased that our peers once again recognized the effort.”
