Northwest Arkansas resident and first-time author Susan Culp is busy signing autographs and receiving positive praise with the release of her first novel.

Entitled “50 Frogs, 5 Babes and a Bulldog!” the 268-page book is described by Culp as a story about a group of friendly females in search of a few good men. “It’s a wacky, over-the-top woman’s comedy,” Culp said. “Everyone is a character.”

Published in November 2009 by Bow Wow Books (Culp owns the label as well), “50 Frogs” is currently for sale at seven Harps Food Stores, as well as Fayetteville’s Nightbird Books. It is also available online.

Culp – a former actress and southern California resident who moved to the West Fork area along with her husband last summer – wrote “50 Frogs” in nine months. She is already hard at work on her second novel, which she hopes to complete within the year. Book signings are keeping her busy though. Harps will host a pair of on July 2 and July 8.

As the daughter of a writer, Culp seems pleased with the way things are going. “The response has been great,” she said.
