Madison County Record Inc., the company that publishes the weekly Madison County Record newspaper, has purchased the White River Valley News from Northwest Arkansas Newspapers LLC.

NAN is a partnership formed between Wehco Media Inc. and Stephens Media Inc. in late 2009 to consolidate some of the daily newspaper operations between the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and The Morning News of Springdale.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

White River Valley News had a weekly circulation of 814 as of May 2009, down almost 24 percent from a year prior. The paper covers Elkins, Goshen, Greenland, West Fork, and Winslow.

The Madison County Record has a circulation of about 5,100 every week, the paper said.

Madison County Record Inc. will take over operations of the WRVN on Sept. 1.

Ellen Kreth of MCR will be the publisher of both papers and Kyle Mooty will serve as general manager of each paper.
