UAFS student alumni board created
The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith Student Alumni Association board of directors has been created with its first 10 members.
Katie Schluterman, student and young alumni coordinator, said part of her job is to engage current students in the UAFS Alumni Association.
"We want to make them aware that their relationship with UA Fort Smith doesn’t end with graduation," Schluterman said in a statement. "It is a lifelong relationship. What better way to do this than by having a Student Alumni Association."
Schluterman said the goal of the SAA is to “reach out to the entire student body and create a link between students and alumni." She said the board would now be charged with developing a constitution and structure for the organization, as well as initiating membership requirements and planning an event schedule.
The board members are: Sarah Davis of Alma, president; Jami Hendrix of Fort Gibson, member at large; Magaly Centeno of Fort Smith, secretary; Tyler Lamon of Fort Smith, member at large; Ian Miller of Fort Smith, member at large; Emilee Higdon of Mulberry, vice president-programming; Katie Garcia of Ozark, president-elect; Danielle Spillers of Scranton, vice president-traditions; Laramie Alves of Van Buren, vice president-seniors; and Jillian McDaniel of Waldron, member at large.
