John Pak didn’t take the task of opening his fifth Shogun Steak House location lightly.

Pak traveled to Scottsdale, Ariz. and Las Vegas, Nev., to study restaurant architecture and spent nearly four years planning his new, hilltop location.

With design work by Miller Boskus Lack Architects, construction by Hunnicutt Construction Co. and financing from Arvest Bank, Pak created a $4.2 million, 11,000-SF restaurant that provides diners with a one-of-a-kind view of Fayetteville and the city lights.

The new location seats a total of about 480 customers and has an upscale dinning room, the traditional Shogun grills, an outdoor patio and an upstairs lounge area.

Pak brought in a new head chef who has 30 years of restaurant experience, from California and updated the food and sushi menus and the plate presentation. The restaurant’s menu will be updated and changed every six months.

Pak said he purchased the land about four years ago because he saw the growth occurring in Fayetteville and new the location would be a prime restaurant spot.

The restaurant has been open for about a month but business has been so good that Pak has not had time to plan an official grand opening.
