Fort Smith Regional Chamber Picks Pitsch
The Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce has hired Mat Pitsch as its new vice president of economic development.
Pitsch has been the dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology at the University of Arkansas—Fort Smith.
He is slated to start his new job in mid-October.
Pitsch said he will be in charge of implementing an economic development strategy for the city. The plan was devised by TIP Strategies of Austin, Texas.
Recruiting new businesses to the area will be a major part of his new job, but Pitsch couldn’t give any insight as to how he will try to do that.
A Wyoming native, Pitsch noted that he has chosen to live in the Arkansas River Valley three separate times.
“It’s easy for me to be positive about the city of Fort Smith,” he said.
