Listeners of KSEC 95.7 FM may have noticed a drastic change in format from rock standards to “Mexican regional.”

Vega Enterprises Inc., owned by Eddie Vega, purchased the station on July 18 for $2 million from Bentonville Broadcasting. The closing was at 3 p.m., Vega said, and the format changed at 7 p.m. The sale included the FCC license and equipment for the station.

“It was really a bargain,” Vega said.

The new station is called La Zeta, which has existed in Northwest Arkansas for the last 10 years on various spots on the dial with varying signal strengths. Most recently it was on 99.5 FM, where Vega leased 24-hour time from the owners.

The Mexican regional format is a mix of Spanish rock, oldies and country music, he said.

Vega Enterprises manages La Prensa Del Noroeste de Arkansas, a Spanish newspaper Vega started but sold to Stephens Media Inc. in 2003.
