Forty Under 40: Ben McLintock

Ben McLintock, 34, was one of two radio and television students at San Francisco State University who had jobs waiting for them upon graduation.

The California native took his first job as a weekend anchor/reporter with KMVT-TV in Twin Falls, Idaho. Looking to climb the broadcast ladder, he moved to Fayetteville where he was on air for KFSM-TV from mid-2001 through the end of 2002. Moving to an even larger market, he took a position with KWTV in Oklahoma City.

But a woman he’d met during his stint in Northwest Arkansas was still on his mind, so
10 months later he was back. It took about a year, but in mid-2004, he found his calling in the EOA.

He’s now in charge of fundraising through private support and marketing of the non-profit’s overall mission, which is essentially financial literacy and early childhood education aimed at reducing poverty.

One division of the EOA is the Children’s House, which provides long-term care to abused children. McLintock said seeing results from his contributions to raise funds for a new facility has been his most significant achievement. The facility will provide care for 72 children; the campaign is about 61 percent complete

“This facility will save taxpayers $27 million a year,” he said. “That’s something I feel very privileged and excited to be a part of.”
