About 100 workers near Wynne will be laid off after a company decided not to rebuild one of three buildings after a fire disaster last year.
Memphis-based Mueller Industries lost a sizable portion of its Wynne facility after a fire destroyed a building on the factory campus last September.
The metal and plastic pipe fitting plant employs about 360 in total. After the fire last year, the company evaluated whether or not to rebuild the part that burned, and in the end, opted not to.
In its earnings report released last week, Mueller tallied net income for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2011 of $86.3 million. In the fourth quarter, the company posted a $12.9 million profit.
