John Sampier, executive director for Northwest Arkansas Conservation Authority, was fired late this afternoon for misuse of the authority’s credit card.

The board met in executive session around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday ( Feb. 16) and voted to terminate Sampier — a former mayor of Rogers — as a result of credit card charges of a personal nature in January.

Bentonville Mayor and NACA director Bob McCaslin confirmed the termination via e-mail.

Sampier’s annual salary was $112,827.

NACA is a regional wastewater treatment facility located near Highfill. The facility handles wastewater treatment for Tontitown and Bentonville in addition to disposal of biosolilds.
