The New York Times Co. said on Sept. 24 that it appointed Robert H. Eoff president of its broadcast media group.

Eoff replaced Cynthia Augustine, who announced on Sept. 20 that she was leaving the company to become senior vice president of talent management for Time Warner Inc. Augustine had headed the group since 2000.

Eoff, 55, was president and general manager of KFSM, Channel 5, in Fort Smith from 1987 to 1995.

Just prior to the Sept. 24 announcement, he was vice president of the New York Times Co. broadcast group, as well as president and general manager for CBS-affiliate WREG-TV in Memphis.

Eoff started his television career at WREG-TV in 1969 as a part-time camera operator and returned to the station in 1995 as general manager after holding a number of positions at Viacom Inc.’s CBS.
