Jim Prestwood, general sales manager of KHBS/KHOG-TV, Channels 40/29, has been promoted to president and general manager of the television stations, which have newsrooms in Fayetteville and Fort Smith.

KHBS/ KHOG are Hearst-Argyle Television’s ABC affiliates in western Arkansas.

Prestwood succeeds Ken Bauder, who left that job to be president and GM of WMTW-TV, the ABC affiliate serving the Portland/Auburn, Maine, television market.

Hearst-Argyle is getting regulatory approval to buy WMTW.

Before joining KHBS/KHOG, Prestwood held a variety of sales manager positions at television stations, including, most recently, Quorum Broadcasting’s KDEB-TV and, through a joint sales agreement, KOLR-TV, both of which are in Springfield, Mo.

Prestwood is scheduled to take over his new duties at KHBS/KHOG on July 1.
