Mitchell Williams Selig Gates and Woodyard PLLC is celebrating its 50th anniversary by giving back to the community. Each employee, including lawyers, at the Little Rock firm has pledged to give 50 hours of community service between March 4 and Dec. 31. The firm has an office in Rogers which employs 12 people including five lawyers.

With about 150 employees, that calculates out to 7,500 hours of community service donated to nonprofits in the state.

John Selig, managing director of the firm, said the program, called “Take Time to Give,” was a novel way for the firm to celebrate its golden anniversary.

He said that a typical celebration of throwing a party and inviting clients didn’t seem fitting.

“This will be something that will have a lasting effect,” Selig said.

Selig said Mitchell Willams staff was asked to contribute 20 firm-organized hours to a selection of 10 charities, then give the other 30 hours to a charity of their choice.

Organizations Mitchell Williams Selig Gates and Woodyard have pledged to donate firm-organized time to are:

•?The American Red Cross

•?Camp Aldersgate

•?Habitat for Humanity of Benton County

•?Little Rock Boys and Girls Club

•?Little Rock Parks and Recreation

•?Main Street Mission in Russellville

•?Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter in Bentonville

•?Habitat for Humanity of Pulaski County

•?The Salvation Army

•?The Nature Conservancy
