Pad Thai Opens in Springdale
Thai restaurants are becoming almost as common as Mexican restaurants in Northwest Arkansas.
Pad Thai Restaurant slipped in last fall at the Sunrise Inn in Springdale. The space was previously home to an Indian restaurant named The Star of India and, for many years before that, it housed the Peking Restaurant.
Pad Thai is owned by Atisan Jitprasertsuk, originally of Thailand but now a resident of Springdale.
An employee of the restaurant who said he goes by simply Toom was quick to brag about the quality of the food. He said the restaurant uses no corn starch, which can make food mushy, and no monosodium glutamate, which can make diners mushy.
“Our food is not too greasy,” Toom said. “We use all fresh vegetables and all fresh meat to cook for the customers. We find the customers like it.”
Toom said Pad Thai specializes in hot and spicy dishes. The name of the restaurant is also the name of the signature dish of Thailand.
Pad Thai is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Toom said the lunch specials cost $6.50 each.
