Times Names New Editors

On Dec. 7, the Northwest Arkansas Times named Scott Shackelford of Springdale editorial page editor.

“He has written columns and editorials for the University of Arkansas newspaper, The Arkansas Traveler, for nearly three years,” the Times article stated.

Shackelford has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the UA and is working on a master’s degree in the same field.

The Times also said Alvin Polk was hired in October as night/weekend editor. Polk previously worked for the Times Record of Fort Smith, The Morning News of Springdale and Arkansas Times of Little Rock.

Christie Swanson joined the Times as managing editor in September. For the previous nine years, she worked for the Yankton Press & Dakotan in Yankton, S.D. Most recently, she served as news editor for the South Dakota newspaper.
