Hoya?s COO Starts Local Project Englebrecht ?Thumper-dink?
Roy Englebrecht is a minority owner and chief operating officer of Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. The two-year-old firm is the second-largest boxing promotions company in the United States and had gross revenue of $9 million in 2002.
Englebrecht said the firm has looked at Arkansas as a possible venue for a professional boxing event, maybe at Bud Walton Arena, but Alltel Arena in North Little Rock might be a possibility.
De la Hoya lost his World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association junior middle weight world titles on Sept. 13 to “Sugar” Shane Mosley in Las Vegas.
