Bad Help Wanted

The most unusual help-wanted ad caught our eye recently — “Obnoxious, lazy, inexperienced and dishonest person needed to run a full-time landscape maintenance/irrigation team. Must have poor driving record, with several wrecks and DWIs. If you think Roundup is something you do with cows and Mimosa is a good tree, this is probably for you. GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR REQUIRED …”

The ad goes on to explain the job available and says to apply at Terravista Landscape in Bentonville. Terravista owner Gene Geren ran a similar advertisement a few years ago and had a lot of response. In the first two days it ran in May, Terravista received about 20 in-person responses and planned to pull the ad from The Morning News classified section the following day. The ad doesn’t list a telephone number.
