Carla Tyson purchased a large display advertisement in The Morning News on March 24 that more than got her point across.

Tyson is the sister of John Tyson, chairman and CEO of Tyson Foods Inc. She was granted a divorce from Gary Combs on March 26. Her ad had a thin black border around mostly blank space with only these words: “I am not responsible for any indebtedness incurred by any person other than myself. Carla Tyson.”

Carla Tyson’s ad measured three columns (5 3/4 inches) wide by 10-inches tall, which cost about $795, as opposed to $8.61 for a special notice classified ad (20 words or less) in the same paper.

Combs, a major developer in Northwest Arkansas, is owner of Basic Construction and Basic Block Group of Springdale.

The placement of the ad was ironic, going on page 2B of the Nation & World section under the page identification headline: War With Iraq.
