The owners of Ripple Outfitters, a Fayetteville sporting goods store, closed the business on Feb. 1. The 5,000-SF store at 2914 N. College Ave. had been open since August 2000.

“We are closing the store because we are tired of retail,” said Ryan Hodson, co-owner of the store. “Before we opened the store, we would spend well over a 100 days a year outdoors. Since we opened the store, our time outdoors has greatly diminished. We are ready to get back to a life that includes hunting, fishing and spending time with our families for holidays.”

Hodson’s partner in the business is Greg Smart. Both men are originally from Little Rock. Hodson and Smart are partners with Tom Gordon in a new Fayetteville restaurant (See story, p. 20), Slim Chicken’s, which is scheduled to open Feb. 17.

Ripple Outfitters specialized in hunting and fly-fishing equipment.
