Dallas Businessman Looks to Stop Floods
A Dallas businessman with Fayetteville connections is looking into the possibility of putting his latest patent to work in the Northwest Arkansas area.
Greg Horn is the nephew of John McGuire, chief financial officer and treasurer of Virtual Satellite Corp. of Fayetteville.
Horn makes elevator equipment in Dallas, but he has received a patent for an electronic switch for washing machines that will not allow any water pressure through the hose until the machine is turned on.
Horn got the idea when he read a State Farm Insurance report that said the second most expensive loss for people was having their homes flooded by hoses breaking on their washing machines.
Horn has had discussions with Bentonville Plastics Inc. about having the part made. Horn has also talked with Bob Friedman, chairman and CEO of Virtual Satellite Corp., and is reportedly just awaiting the paper work to get the production under way.
