Bickford Retires After 38 Years at News

Charles Bickford retired May 24 after working as a photographer at The Morning News since 1964.
Bickford, 63, has photographed many pivotal events in the history of Northwest Arkansas. These include Richard Nixon at the 1969 “Big Shootout” football game between Arkansas and Texas at Razorback Stadium and George Bush when he visited the area in 1992.
“Bickford ushered in the true photographic era of the old Springdale News,” said Jim Morriss, executive editor of the Morning News who hired Bickford back in ’64 at what was then The Springdale News. “He was Mr. Photography for Northwest Arkansas.”
