After mail-ordering her clothing for years, Phyllis Charette opened a specialty store to sell the products and brands she couldn’t find in Northwest Arkansas. Charette stocked the 1,600-SF shop, All About Her, with intimate apparel, resort wear and active clothes.
During her first year of business, Charette hopes to gross $350,000 by selling brands such as DKNY, Moving Comfort, Carushka, Tommy Bahama and Gottex.
Although All About Her doesn’t carry athletic shoes, Charette said her lines of active wear include clothes for exercising, gardening and swimming.
Charette plans to expand her lines of teen swimsuits next year to bring in spring break and summer sales. However, All About Her primarily targets 30- to 60-year-olds.
“I felt like the younger age groups have lots of places to shop,” Charette said.
The boutique is Charette’s first experience in retail and management, and she employs two part-time employees.
A mother of two, Charette waited until her oldest son graduated from high school before opening the business. She has lived in Northwest Arkansas for eight years, and she grew up in Massachusetts.
