Claudia Chan of Fayetteville was scheduled to open Lollicup Tea Zone in mid-April in the food court at Fayetteville’s Northwest Arkansas Mall. She took over the space previously occupied by Charley’s Chicken.

“It’s like a Chinese version of Starbucks,” Chan said. “We sell tea and some snack items and some slushes [blended drinks made with fruit, syrup and ice].”

Chan said the company is headquartered in California and Taiwan. Lollicup Tea Zone doesn’t sell traditional franchises. Instead, store owners pay a licensing fee and buy products from the company to sell at the stores.

Lollicup Tea Zone has more than 1,000 locations. The company has stores throughout Asia and many located on the West Coast of the United States.
