Kathleen Morris imports handmade beeswax pillar candles from Mexico with her new business Exotic Candle World. Twice a month, Morris’ husband Crespin Ayala drives a two-day round trip between Benton County and the Mexican border to transport 800-candle loads.

Waxen flowers decorate each candle, and Ayala’s cousin crafts each pillar by hand. She said Ayala suggested she open the store because the products are unique in Northwest Arkansas.

Right now, Morris only sells 18-inch tall and 1-inch wide candles from her 600-SF shop in Rogers. She plans to stock 24- and 36-inch candles and accessories, soon.

The couple opened the shop with personal savings, and they commute to Rogers daily from their home in Oklahoma.

Before opening Exotic Candle World, Morris worked for Tyson Foods Inc. in Springdale.
