Bob Douglas, 76, former managing editor of the Arkansas Gazette and chairman of the University of Arkansas’ journalism department, suffered a stroke on May 27. He was transferred from Washington Regional Medical Center to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, both in Fayetteville, on May 31. Douglas also had a stroke in the early 1990s.

Douglas’ wife, Martha Douglas, said her husband is recuperating, and she believes he’ll make a full recovery as he did from his previous stroke.

Douglas was managing editor of the Gazette from 1972 to 1981. He was chairman of the UA’s Walter Lemke Department of Journalism from 1981 to 1989.
