Big Stories: Mail Boxes Smashed, Pig Attacks
We hope all the people who traveled from all over the world to attend the Wal-Mart shareholders meeting June 1 went home soon afterwards. Otherwise, if they had been keeping up with local media stories over the next few days, they would really think they had been in the boondocks.
KHBS/KHOG, Channels 40/29, led the 5:30 p.m. newscast June 3 with what they called “Our big story: mail box vandals.”
“We found four mailboxes that had been hit or completely smashed,” the station reported. The incidents all occurred on Greasy Valley Road in rural Washington County.
Then The Morning News published a Page 1 story in its Fayetteville edition June 6 about an 88-year-old Lincoln woman being attacked and bitten by a pot-bellied pig while working in her garden.
