CMIS Inc., the Fayetteville election software firm, was purchased Feb. 13 by Election.com Inc. of Garden City, N.Y., for an undisclosed amount. Election.com chief information officer Mark Prieto would not elaborate further.

CMIS, which employs 23 people on Keystone Crossing in Fayetteville, will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary.

University of Arkansas graduate Tracy Lewin founded CMIS in 1992 and began developing data base management software for the election industry. The firm’s products are contracted for use by all counties in Arkansas and Minnesota and hundreds of other counties across America.

Lewin will stay on as CTO.
