Blackwood Martin CJRW Wins Fayetteville Ad Contract
Blackwood Martin/CJRW will apparently retain its contract with the Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission. A&P commissioners interviewed on April 20 the four agencies that had expressed interest in the account. Using the city’s professional selection policy, the four commissioners present for the meeting rated Blackwood Martin first while Little Rock’s Stone & Ward came in second. Other agencies interviewed were Thompson Earnhart & Associates and Taylor Mack Advertising, both of Fayetteville.
The recommendation goes to the full commission, which has seven members, at its next regular meeting for approval. The commission will meet May 11.
The three-year contract, w worth as much as $250,000 annually, has been held by Blackwood Martin for the past three years.
Rice on a rampage: Times readers bombarded by bylines
The Northwest Arkansas Times’ prolific reporter Maylon T. Rice had five Page 1 story bylines in the Sunday, April 19, issue of the Times. Four of those stories comprised a package about the University of Arkansas’ master plan. The other Rice story was about the UA Board of Trustee’s meeting the previous day in Little Rock. This has got to be a record of some kind. And Rice is no slacker during the week. The general rule of thumb, if we recall correctly from our daily newspaper days, is that a reporter could be expected to accurately do a maximum of two meaty stories per day. Isn’t it about time for Rice to take a vacation, or for the Times to free up some space on Page 1 for the other staffers?
