ABC Suspends Eight Clubs
If you’re planning to go out for happy hour on Friday, Aug. 8, or for drinks the next night, you might want to check with your favorite watering hole first.
Eight Fayetteville bars clubs have been suspended for one or two days that weekend for violating state laws pertaining to alcohol sales. The majority of violations concerned sales to minors or minors possessing alcohol in the establishments.
The suspensions mean the bars and clubs can remain open and serve food, but they can’t serve alcohol on those days.
A total of 33 Fayetteville establishments were fined by the Alcohol Beverage Control board for violations. Of that number, eight were suspended. The severity of fines, suspension and probation depended on several factors, including past violations. In addition to the suspensions, the eight establishments were each fined between $500 to $1,000 and put on probation for two to six months.
Suspended for Aug. 7 and 8 were: LJ’s Restaurant & Club, JR’s Dickson Street Ballroom, Planet Rock and Ozark Bowling Lanes. Suspended for Aug. 8 only were: The Dome Grill & Bar (formerly My Pleasure Restaurant), JR’s Pizzeria & The Lightbulb Club, Powerhouse Seafood Restaurant and Cafe Santa Fe.
As if things weren’t already bad enough for LJ’s, a bouncer there was arrested after a 19-year-old was stabbed in the abdomen during a fight at the club early on the morning of July 18.
